I grew up in a rural area of Kentucky and farm work has always been a part of my life. Up until I left for college, I participated in everything from taking care of cattle to cutting and baling hay to the many processes involved in raising tobacco. I did this mostly for my own father on our farm, but I also assisted my uncles with their work, particularly in the tobacco field. It wasn't always pretty and it didn't make me popular, but the farm work that I did as a kid and teenager has played a definitive role in shaping me into a hard-working individual that only quits when the job is done. |
