"The power is in your hands..."
| Awards: |
Honor Roll-president's(4.0 gpa) and dean's (3.5 and higher) list, recipient of the Joshua English Memorial, CCC Miller, and Equal Access scholarship. |
| Career Objectives: |
I'm currently on the track towards pursuing my BS in economics, with a focus on international and public policy. I chose to pursue a career in economics because of the dire need of more Latino leaders within the community. In order for Latino's to get ahead academically, economically, and politically, there needs to be more people who are prepared to represent and advocate for their needs. I plan on completing my bachelors of science in economics in two years. There after, I plan on completing my masters in either economics, business, or political science. |
| Interest/Hobbies: |
Painting,(oil and acrylic) drawing,( charcoal and graphite), reading, singing, cooking, camping, and making people laugh |
| Organizations/Clubs: |
Phi theta kappa honor society, chemeketa community college student government-public relations coordinator, One Body community service club- treasurer, DACO(dream act committee of oregon), CAUSA volunteer, Junto Podemos Family resource center volunteer. |
| Helping Myself & Helping Others: |
I've always made volunteering and giving back a personal task as well as a personal enjoyment. I love cooking and like my mom says "donde come uno, come dos y hasta tres," (where one eats, two or even three can eat), this is why I try to share food and cook for friends and family and those in need of a warm plate of food. I'm also an active member of my community and school. I volunteer at a family resource center for children with disabilities. Working with this organization has made me into a more compassionate and understanding person. I've also put my bilingual skills to use by translating for Spanish speaking families and helping in activities that require a Spanish speaking assistant. In college I was part of student government. My main role was in assisting with clubs, club fundraisers, college wide communtiy service projects, and registering voters. Working as a member of student governent opened my eyes to many issues students and our communities face. It also gave me the strength to step up for those who many times feel like they have no voice. By volunteering I don't just help other but I' also help my self. |
