| Biography: |
Being a migrant not only means hard labor work but education sacrifice too. Through many years, as far as I can remember, I’ve been taken out of school months early and arrived months late as well. As a result it has affected me because I was forced to work even harder .in my education; having to advance work in all my classes and catching up on work when arriving back to school. Through my education I enrolled in different schools each year, always meeting new people, since we moved to different states in search for a better life. It was hard to cope with each school, and when I started to, I got checked out to go back home. While in my high school years I joined the Migrant Club, others members and I would share similar experiences. I was also part of the University Outreach Program that also gave me the opportunity to visit different colleges in the state that my parents wouldn’t be able to take me to due to our economic status. Thanks to my dedication I was always able to maintain my A&B Honor Roll.

| Farmworking Background: |
I’ve been a migrant literally all my life. I come from a family of ten and we all migrate to the state of Michigan every summer to work out in the fields. Through many years of hard labor work I have learned to appreciate the values and morals of my family. Together with my family, we have been through cold and hot, easy and hard times as migrants. We have worked long hours under the hot burning sun hoeing, and through freezing winds picking apples. Not only have we worked
hard for our money, but we have also been through discriminations and humiliations that have just made us grow stronger and closer. |
