| Biography: |
I was born in Mission, Texas. My home is located in Palmview, Texas where I spend only 5 months out of the year. My parents are seasonal farm workers in the state of Michigan. We pick asparagus during the summers and work in factories that freeze vegetables until november. I have always loved Michigan. Regardless of my state of birth. I always say I am a michigan resident because due to my family migrating to the states I was basically raised in Michigan all my life. I still remember as a child, when my father would get home from picking asparagus and he would say " mija ya esta la comida?" How I miss this. Now that I am in College I work stronger to persue a degree where I can help not only my family but my society. Even now as a student I take my summer semesters off because I like helping out my parents. I perfer to take off summer classes than to see my mother in the hot sun. I like helping the community out with anything that might be needed. As an active member of organizations that have a common goal I tend to raise awarness that there is people like my parents who work hard for grocery stores to have their fruits, vegetables, etc in stock. I like for people to know that there is people out there who are working really hard and to make time in their day to take them a cup of water. I remember as a child picking asparagus in the hot weather made me desire of cold and icy cup of water. In the summers if I see a family that is working in the hot sun picking whichever crop I take them their water bottles that I once wanted while working. |
