Biography: Yovani Ramos, of 19 years old, is the oldest of four children in the family. She graduated from Othello High School with honors. She worked in many places starting from vineyards, to cleaning houses, to a fast food restaurant. She spent all of her junior and senior year working thirty hours a week and still managing to succeed in school. However, times were sometimes more difficult and she grreatly suffered academically. Since the year she was born up to the age of twelve, Yovani had to temporarily live in a small one room trailer during the harvest seasons, which is when she would highly take advantage of school. During the winter seasons, her and her family had to migrate to Mexico in order to support themselves. Her parents did not make enough money to make it through the winter; the electricity bill during the winter was beyond what her family could afford, and rent not to mention was not a possibility because her family had to live day by day on what they earned. So what about the possibility of migrating to another state?? Well, there was no money for gas and the car her parents owned was nothing to put faith on! Therefore, when winter approached this family, they would ride with other friends who were also heading to Mexico, and who were willing not to charge monetarily. Instead, her parents would give them any tangible possessions which would pay off for the ride. This also was very difficult on Yovani because, if her parents had to leave for three months every year, what did this mean? Yes, she was certainly missing too much out from school. As a consequence, even though she put forth best effort, she was held back her first grade year, devasting her! But she was determined, she had to work even harder now, so then, she began to stay back in her hometown with other relatives in order to attend school. Eventually, her parents were soon able to stay during some winters after saving up, which helped her a lot. She graduated Othello High School, taking various Advanced Placement courses her junior and senior year! Today she attends Eastern washington University, and plans to also graduate with honors and a Bachelors degree in business administration.
